Shredded Sphagnum Moss

This high-quality 5A Chilean shredded sphagnum moss is versatile and has many applications. Sphagnum moss is notoriously useful in horticultural practices as it has growth-promoting qualities such as excellent moisture retention, aeration, and an acidic pH. 

Because the moss is shredded, it makes it easy to spread over a surface without creating a thick layer, making it a perfect top dressing option. Top dressing can be important to keep roots cool and moist in hot temperatures, like with outdoor bonsai trees. While there are other top-dressing methods, this one is aesthetic, renewable, and easy to change or remove if needed. 

Another application is as a barrier between drainage and soil layers in terrariums and enclosures. By preventing the soil from touching the drainage layer, the water can settle at the bottom allowing the soil to dry.
