Hypnum imponens

Hypnum imponens

Another Hypnum? Yes, the imponens is very similar in care to the Hypnum cupressiforme with the main difference being the shape. Like our Witchure and cupressiforme moss the imponens will attach to fine soil, rocks, and wood making it versatile in scapes.

Light: indirect, put in a shadier spot in your scape for best results 6,500k-7,000k grow light 10 hours a day

Water: can take tap but would prefer R.O. or distilled water misted anytime the leaves look thin rather than fluffy. Water frequency depends on the metabolism of the plant that is affected by the environment. Get to know about your growing conditions and make observations about the moss to determine watering frequency.

Pruning: You can trim or pull out based on aesthetic but it's not necessary for health.

Fertilizer: NEVER use a soil or a synthetic fertilizer you WILL burn your moss. You may periodically use a HEAVLITY diluted organic fertilizer, skip this if you're putting your moss in a bioactive enclosure.

We do not recommend growing any of our moss in sealed containers as most plants need airflow for transpiration. Air flow and a high quality grow light will not only keep your plants happy, but prevent bacterial and fungus growth.

Before we ship we lightly water the moss but it may arrive dry, the leaves may curl to preserve water. Rehydrating the moss 20 minutes will allow the leaves to open and be less prone to breakage during handling and placement.
